If you are experiencing problems accessing the Internet, then please try some of these common errors before calling for technical support.
the dialup phone number.. The dialup number you should be using is 0845 1300322. This is the same number for ISDN or 56k modems.
telephone cable plugged in? Has it been disconnected by someone? In the correct wall socket? Do you have another wall socket you can try?
Windows can use the modem. You can test that Windows based machines are configured with the modem correctly by going into Control Panel, Modems, Diagnostics tab. Select the modem listed and click the more info button. This should return your modem's internal information. If an error occurs then your modem is not configured correctly and you will need to contact your hardware supplier to remedy this.
extension cable. Try bypassing any extension cables and plug the modem cable directly into the wall socket.
if the cable going through any adapters? Occasionally adapters which give you multiple sockets from the one wall socket can confuse your modem. Try removing the adapter and plugging the modem cable directly into the wall.
username and password. You will have been given an information sheet detailing your username and passwords. Ensure that the ones you are entering are correct.
that your modem is on. If you are using an external mode, make sure that it has a power supply and turned on. Usually there will be a power LED on the front of it. If you have a notebook computer and therefore a PCMCIA modem, try removing the card and re-inserting it to check the connections internally.
