How do I setup my e-mail in Microsoft Outlook Express?

If you are using a business network, please consult your network administrator before configuring or creating any email accounts.

To set up your email accounts with Microsoft Outlook Express, simply follow these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express Outlook Express Icon

2. Click Tools from the toolbar, and select Accounts:

3. Select the Mail tab along the top. The click on Add and choose Mail.

4. In the Display Name box, type the name that you want others to see when you send a message, and then click Next.

5. Type in the Email Address of your account (for example, yourname@yourdomain.com). Then click Next.

6. The E-mail Server Names page will then appear:

Using the sheet provided to you by Midland Computers Ltd, enter the Incoming and Outgoing mail servers. For example:

A standard connection (default):

· Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - mail.rocketuk.net
· Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.rocketuk.net

OR for RocketADSL customers:

· Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - mail.rocketuk.net
· Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.gotadsl.co.uk

OR for a Nildram Anytime customers:

· Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - mail.rocketuk.net
· Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.gotadsl.co.uk

Next tick the Use authentication to send email box.

Then click Next to continue.

7. Enter your Username and Password into the Internet Mail Logon page, using the sheet provided to you by Midland Computers Ltd.

Click Next to continue.


8. You will be asked which method you want to use to connect to the Internet.

Select either:

· Connect using my phone line

Microsoft Outlook will automatically dial and hang up


· Connect using my local area network (LAN)

Use this if you have a permanent connection, such as an office network


· I will establish my Internet connection manually

For Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express to be online, you will need to dial up the Internet by using the ‘dialup networking icon’.

If you choose to manually connect to the Internet, be aware that you must close the connection – it will not automatically disconnect.
Midland Computers Ltd cannot be held responsible for Internet connections left open.

9. Click Finish and Close.

NOTE You must only log in to your email account once. If your connection drops or ‘times out’, you may have to wait for the server to detect this before you can log in again (approximately 30minutes).

WEBMAIL

If you encounter any problems accessing your email, it is also possible to log into your account via the Webmail facility on our website.

Simply click the Webmail link. A new page will appear:

Enter your username and password, and you will have complete access to your account.

This is especially useful when using public computers, such as Internet Cafes and Libraries – you can access your email wherever you are in the world
